My Kid’s Dictionary

While kids are learning to speak, there are interesting twists on common words… here are a few of our family favorites which are now used in our everyday conversation:

1. Bobbin: n. term referring to my 2yo’s bottom. As in: “My bobbin is dirty.”

2. Beehive: n. another term referring to a bottom. We used the word “behind” when speaking to my 7yo when she was little. She morphed it into “beehive.” As in: “Mommy, my beehive hurts.”

3. Hippothomas: n. alternate to Hippopotamus, used by 2yo. As in: ” I am coloring this hippothomas!”

4. Three Months of Tears: n. alternate to “Three Musketeers.” Recent development in our vocabulary as our 4yo heard me talking about the candy bar. As in: “Ooh, I want a Three Months of Tears!”

5. Driveyounuts, driveyounuts, driveyounuts: I’m going to call this one an adjective and a verb. When my 7yo was little, she adopted this phrase, repeating it over and over until she actually did, indeed, drive us nuts.
