Me in Place

This weekend we saw the Eyes Wide Open exhibit in Grant Park in Chicago. For each of the 3,445 soldiers killed in Iraq, there is a pair of boots with their name attached. It is a very powerful reminder of the sacrifice of life given in the War in Iraq. And, in larger part, a reminder of the sacrifice in other wars to protect our freedoms.

After seeing this display in the afternoon, a commercial I saw that night caught my attention: Go to www.amillionthanks.org and see how you and/or your kids can send letters to the military to say thanks.

My friend has this quote posted on her Memorial Day blog and I “borrowed” it to use here:
