Day in the Life

7:20 a.m. – Open my eyes and find 3yo son staring at me. “Mom, I like cereal.”

7:35 a.m. – Stumble out of bed (I’m a night owl) and go downstairs, saying as I go, “Wonder what he’s gotten into.”

7:40 a.m. – Find what he’s gotten into. 3yo has fed entire angel food cake to dog. Cake I had planned ahead and gotten for a Saturday lunch we’re going to. Dog looks happy, maybe even smiles at me as 3yo heads to time out.

8 – 10 a.m. – Check emails, guest blog, finish putting together “BLT Dip” appetizer for picnic kids and I are going to.  Clean kitchen counters and get kids dressed and fed.

10-11 a.m. – Pack for picnic. Picnic involves a lake, which means swimming. Bring:

-Sun lotion

-2 diapers

-2 swim diapers

-clean clothes for kids for after swimming

-BLT Dip. Almost forget sea salt bagel chips to go with the dip.

-Sunglasses, Excedrin and water bottle for moi.

-Snack bags of animal crackers and fruit snacks just in case!

11-11:20 – Rush kids out door, frantically finding shoes and getting everything in the car.

11:30-1:30 – Enjoy nice picnic with the ladies from a Bible study I did last fall/winter/spring.

1:30 – Change and rush out to get to next event !

2-3 – Attend a free event through our library – the Chicago Boyz Acrobats. Amazing tumbling (one kid jump roped while on his back! a lot of jumping over other kids, etc.Very well done)

3-4 – Stop at Target for some sale items I needed.

4-5 – Check emails, talk to husband.

5 – Decide to go out to eat for Family Fun Night. Go to the McDonald’s by our house. Discuss day. Everyone’s hot and sunkissed.

6 – Stop by Woodman’s and buy my father-in-law his Father’s Day gift. A gigantic remote control. It’s about a foot tall and 6 inches wide. We think we’re funny. dscn2110.jpg

7-8 – Get kids washed up and in bed. Watch about 10 minutes of Bob Barker’s last Price is Right episode.
8-bed- Cut up strawberries and make shortcake to replace Angel Food Cake for tomorrow’s lunch, make gigantic chocolate cookie and decorate for tomorrow, do laundry so kids have clothes to wear tomorrow. Hopefully sit down and read a while.

What a fun day! I’m worn out… but this summer I am trying to do lots of fun (free) stuff with the kids and we’re having a great time. Now if somebody would turn up the air conditioning outside – it’d be perfect!

  1. Wow!! I’m tired just reading that, you must’ve burned a plethora of calories just living your life :-) . I have to tell you I just love Carter :-) . All the great stories you and your mom tell about him just make my day. Fed Angel Cake to the dog, classic!!!!!!!!! I’m sure you weren’t as amused especially at 7:00 in the morning but it was entertaining for me :=))).
