Midday

The kids were excited today because Daddy was going to play guitar on the radio. Steve was one of the musicians on the Midday Connection’s Live Request Christmas program.

Then I got the bright idea to have our 8yo call in, and she got through and got to request her song on air. (The people that took the call did not know she was related to Steve, so there was no “special” treatment or anything, we just called right at the right time.)

Anyway, for those of you who are interested (I’m thinking that would be anyone with the name “Grandma”), click on the link that I’ll put at the end of this paragraph… then click on today’s date and it will bring up a player to listen to the broadcast. There is an intro song  at the beginning, then “O Holy Night”, then her phone call. Steve played a couple songs, but the best (and my favorite Steve song ever) is “Good King Wenceslas” which is played at about halfway through the broadcast. You can fast forward to it. Here is the link: Today’s Midday

I’m not sure 8yo totally understood she was on the radio until her Aunt called and said she heard her. Then it made sense to her and we all jumped around and congratulated her!

By the way, an excellent suggestion for Christmas presents for your friends and family and mother-in-law is a cd by Steve… You can click through here to order (or, if you live by us, we can just hand deliver it to you… email me at skcwick at yahoo.com)

  1. It’s very cool to be related to famous people!

  2. I agree with your vote for Good King Wenceslas as the best Steve song ever. I remember when they did it on the request show a few years ago. It’s been on my wish list ever since, so I’m glad he’s done it again and that you’ve provided the link!

  3. Well, being that my name is “Grandma” I listened! Way to go, munchkin:)

  4. Yup – surprisingly enough I was listening to it in my car (which never happens). I heard “Chloe from Aurora” and figured that they must have called you and said – “No one is calling in – can Chloe request “O Holy Night”??” So, thanks for setting the record straight.

I know lots of famous people, but Steve is definitely the most famous. He goes to my church, you know….. So does his beautiful and talented wife!!! 8-)

  5. Oh, do go on. :)
Steve would be rolling his eyes at the word “famous” being bandied about. However, famous people don’t have time to read comments on their wife’s blog, so no worries.
    ha.
