Suggestion Box

The week between Christmas and New Year’s, I start formulating my lists and goals for the New Year. They aren’t really resolutions, “resolution” seems like you’re just resolved to muddle through somehow, and I’m trying my best not to muddle. A goal seems like a victorious word – like, woo-hoo, I met my goal!

So, if you have any suggestions to add to my following lists, please leave a comment and let me know what you would add:

- Places to Visit in the general Chicagoland area
-Restaurants to visit
-Foods to cook/try at home (I’m thinking creme brulee is going to be on this list!)
-Athletic Endeavors
-Books to Read
-Places to Visit with the Kids
-Movies to Watch
-TV Shows to Check Out
-Things to Try (no jumping out of airplanes, but there have to be some new things to try out there!)
-I want to make a list of things to learn how to do. My most recent one being learning how to do crossword puzzles (More on that to come) and playing “Cooking Mama” on my new Nintendo DS.

  1. Kelli, I’ve been reading your site for awhile. I hope you don’t mind–it’s fun. :-) My husband has recently learned to make creme brulee’, and it was our Christmas dessert!

  2. Allison – Hey! Glad you’re here! I’m so impressed that your husband has mastered creme brulee… if he has a certain recipe for it that he recommends, please let me know! I have the torch and the willing spirit. :)

Hey-There is a local bar in Montgomery that has the best hamburgers you can imagine (not to mention the Beacon News also picked them best burder in the fox valley).  It is called Poor Boy’s Pub.  Yes, it gets smokey (should change Jan 1) and yes, it is a bar setting, but they burgers are worth it.  They are huge (Kelly and I share them) and cost like 6 bucks with fries!  Maybe a better lunch place if you want to attempt to take the “bar” setting out.  I have other restaurants you might want to check out (I like finding off the wall places).  There is a place called Chicago Street Pizza and Oven Grinders in Chicago on Clark Street and they are to die for!  They serve a pizza pot pie, sausage and mushrooms the size of golf balls.  The place is straight mafia (cash only, no reservations, blah blah blah).  Also, if you are looking for a weekend getaway, our neighbors told us about a place in Milwaukee called “The Safe House.”  This one is especially up superboy’s alley, it’s got secret entrances to get into the place, and phone booths you go into for exiting the place.  We have that one on our list.
