Cabin Fever

We woke up to this:

Which, yes, it is beautiful, but I have cabin fever! Let me out of here!!

And the cabin fever and the recovery from illness only motivates me to do one thing:

LAUNDRY!

Um, no. You got that answer wrong. It only motivates me to cook. Except that I didn’t feel like driving anywhere to buy ingredients, so we used what we had. We dug out the pasta machine that I’ve had for ages, and the kids and I made fettucine from scratch. Which isn’t really that time-consuming and makes a delicious pasta that cooks up in about three minutes.  It’s 1 1/2 cups of flour, 2 eggs, 1/2 tsp salt and some water (enough to get the dough all mixed up). Mix it all up in the food processor and you have yourself some pasta. I figured I could eat pasta – you know, carbo loading for the half-marathon training and all.

And maybe if cabin fever inspired me to do laundry, SuperBoy wouldn’t be standing there making fettucine in February in shorts. Poor, poor child.

The good thing about getting kids to help with food is that they’re a tad happier about eating it.

And in the interest of full disclosure, even though making the pasta isn’t hard, the clean-up is what gets me every time and drives me back to just buying it from the store.
