Goals for 09

I have my goals pretty well written out. I decided not to list them here, because it’s kinda creepy to list them in public. BUT! I came up with some goals and things to do that I wanted to list on the blog and keep track of on here.

1. Make one new recipe a month. This has to be a food/recipe I’ve never made before.

- January:

-February: Wheat Crackers (yuck)

2. Knit a scarf. (I have never understood knitting and have never been able to figure it out!)

3. Work on completing the kids’ lists of things they want to do. You can find them here.

4. Complete five more items from the 30 Things to Do in Chicagoland.

5. Read more than 80 books. I have to beat this year’s record. You can see 2008′s list here.

6. Hit at least 70% smart on the Jeopardy calendar.

7. If I say to someone “We should…” I have to follow through on it.

8. Stop blushing when the Blockbuster man yells out the title of the movies I’m renting. They’re not even embarrassing. Why am I embarrassed? “OKAY, THAT’S IRON MAN and DORA THE EXPLORER MEETS THE PRINCESS.”  *blush*

9. Continue working out at least five times a week.

10. Visit six new restaurants.

Onesti’s

11. Do monthlong challenges. (I’ll list these later and explain.)

January: No new clothes!

February: Don’t get sick!

12. Run a 5K in 30 minutes or less.

13. Attend a pro sports event I’ve never been to. (Any help with this? I’ve been to hockey, baseball, basketball…)

That’s it! I also have this overwhelming one that goes something like this: Give more and be nicer and have patience and don’t yell and follow through with people that are on my mind and be consistent in reaching out and do at least ten things I’m scared of doing and never get mad at my kids…

Yeah, that’s why I didn’t list that one. Happy New Year!!

  1. As far as pro sports teams (in the Chicago area), you could check out the new pro lacrosse team, the Chicago Machine, I think they play at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates. Or if you’re into soccer, the Chicago Fire.

I haven’t been to either so it’d be kinda cool to hear what you have to say about it.

  2. I can show you how to knit a scarf! BTW, that’s a pretty heavy-duty list. Good luck. Happy new year.

  3. I can show you how to knit a scarf too, Kelli. No excuses now in not getting that one ticked off your list with two people willing to help you. :)

  4. I knit too. And I would love to attend your knitting bee in which you make a new recipe for the knitters to sample. That would complete #1 and #2. You are very efficient. I will host it if you like :)

  5. Pretty impressive!!

I’m still finishing my 50th book for 2008, even though its technically 2009 so your 80 book thing makes me ill ;-) ).

I’ve been fine tuning my goals as well. I tried to make mine more realistic this year. There is one that I keep making that I really have no desire to do (and obviously keep failing at) but just feel like I “should” and I finally decided that I don’t have to ;-) )).

  6. Dionne – 50 books! Yikes–that is great — you go girl!

  7. FYI – According to Karl Rove in his Wall Street Journal column, President Bush has read hundreds of books over the course of his presidency. Rove knows because Bush challenged him to reading contests. In 2006 Bush read 95 books, in 2007 he read 51, and in 2008 he read 40 books. — I read that in the Daily Herald on Friday.

    I thought that was interesting…

  8. I’m not comparing your amount of reading, Kelli, to Pres. Bush’s… I was just amazed that he had time to read so many books! I cannot BELIEVE how much YOU read with all that you do, but I DO believe it cuz you’re SO smart! ;)

  9. Thanks for the offers of help! I look forward to using all of your knowledge(s?) this year!

Janet – very cool about Prez Bush!! I know you weren’t comparing. :)
