A Couple o’ Cooking Notes:

1. I asked for a popcorn popper for Christmas from my in-laws. After I went all hyper on the poofa, it is good to have the option of making air popped. And, by the way, I never make it on the stovetop because of a childhood incident in which our babysitter almost burnt the house down while making popcorn on the stove. Okay, maybe she didn’t start the house on fire, but, boy howdy, if I wasn’t thinking in my little 6 year old brain, “Ooh, girl, you are busted!”

And, to guard against my short attention span, I marked the measurements right on the bowl of the maker with a permanent marker.(That way I don’t have to keep track of the little brochure that came with it.)

2. I started in on one of my goals for 09 by making a food I’ve never tried before. It’s one of Mr MIP’s fave foods, Chicken Cordon Bleu. It came out all right. I might have to try it again to tweak it. Here is a pic to prove it (you can tell I didn’t smash the chicken down enough):

3. Just a hint: You will totally feel what I call “Cheffy,” if you have these two items:

The first is a pepper grinder. The best (IMHO) is the Peugeot brand. PH got it for me for Christmas last year. She rocks. The second is kosher salt. Buy it at any grocery store and keep it in a little crock or container (Yes, I have a top for it, but I was being Cheffy and cooking in this photo, so it’s not on.)

4. Chef SuperBoy donned his apron and made dessert today. Oreo Cookies n Cream pudding.
