Flashback Friday

There is nothing like a January to make you want to quit, right? Somebody turn off the cold, please!

My excuses are free-flowing in January. “Well, it was so cold….” “But if I go outside I might freeze into a permanent snow angel…Uh, yeah, I’m an angel, why are you laughing Mr MIP?”

As a reminder, let’s flashback to a Springtime not so long ago, when this was in my backyard. Ahhh….

The excuses aren’t even excuses, it’s just plain ol’ whining. I have started and stopped a million and two things this week. I have gotten out to the gym once and hated every minute of it. I need to go again today and canNOT find the motivation. (Don’t tell Coach. I have one Coach who knows they’re my coach. And one Coach who doesn’t know they’re my coach. And I have a Long Distance Workout Buddy. And yet it’s still not enough.) I did two workouts on the treadmill at home, but that didn’t last long, as my tv downstairs is not working right. So I went back upstairs and read my book in my workout clothes. Yeah, uh, not really the point, right?

Help! There are so many “non-negotiables” on our everyday life that we do because we HAVE to. How do you motivate yourself to do the sorta negotiable stuff?

How do you find motivation to not quit?

  1. Yeah… i’ll have to get with you on that question…. :-)

  2. Money always helps

  3. ooh, yes! money! now to convince husband he should pay me for working out…

  4. The problem is that you view exercise as a chore, you don’t really love doing it. As long as that is the case you’ll always struggle with it. You’re looking at it as a means to an end. People who don’t struggle with exercising see the exercise as the end in itself and it’s worth it. If you look to exercise as a utilitarian object to lose weight it’ll be tough. In all there is no answer to be motivated to do something you don’t want to do. The only remedy is to actually want to do it. IF you don’t, sit on the couch, eat food and then die a painful miserable long drawn out death. Enjoy.

  5. Ah, Jeff, you speak truth. But it’s okay – you know me, my ruts last for a day or so and then I’m back in Action, Jackson.

I ROCKED the gym today. Boo-ya.
