Thursday Things

Been spending all day doing financial things today. Rendering unto Caesar and all. The tax system in America would be changed in a second if everyone had to write out the check themselves (instead of having it deducted from your check). Then you’d all be outraged.

I needed a break from money, so here you go:

1. Recap of LOST last night: We learned nothing, except that a Scottish accent is a beautiful thing. Except I guess we already knew that. (Have I mentioned it’s a life goal of mine to live in Scotland?)

Anyway, Desmond had a big part in last night’s episode. You remember Desmond, right?

2. Our friend from the Chinese Restaurant sent home a pair of chopsticks, fortune cookies and placemats for the kids to celebrate Chinese New Year on Monday. Apparently, I am an Ox on the Chinese calendar, and this is our year! Good to know. It’s also interesting that the personality test I took a month or so ago, compared me to Napoleon. So did the Chinese placemat. I hope I won’t be banished to Elba.

We used our chopsticks at lunch:

3. This is the fortune SuperBoy got in his cookie: “You are a bundle of energy and always on the go.”

This was a direct attack against our parenting skills, seeing as how we repeatedly say the fortunes are made up by some worker in a factory in San Francisco and are not really truly real fortunes.

(Why does “If” by Bread seem to just HAVE to be the song of the day?)

  1. Hey, can I come be your neighbor in Scotland?? I want to go there too!! Though I might have my summer home in New Zealand!!!!!

  2. I don’t see why you think it’s a problem to be compared to ice cream. I mean, it’s chocolate, strawberry and vanilla all in one tub. It doesn’t get much better than that. And, hmm, Scotland or a sparsely populated island off the coast of Italy. Not much of a debate in my mind, but maybe that’s just me.

  3. Heather, of course! I always looked forward to seeing Heather in Scotland :)

    n8 – you’re funny. :)

  4. My dad used to watch Lost w/my mom…when he saw the commercial, he couldn’t believe that they were all still LOST!!!! :) I can’t comment…never have seen an episode, but I do feel a little up to date!

Chinese – YUM!! Chopsticks are fun! Napoleon – up here that’s a dessert! :) I saw a movie one time and the guy that played him was this little weird guy that would struggle to get on a horse…that’s the picture I get in my mind now!!!

Scotland…you NEED to go (then you can decide if you really want to live there…make sure you ask about taxes!)! First, make sure you have a passport, then work on the latte factor (save that money), hook yourself up on e-mail w/all the travel deal websites and when a good one pops up, drop your kids off here and go w/Mr. MIP!!! :)

  5. Sue – I think I saw that movie too!
And thanks for the guidelines to getting to Scotland- you make it sound so… doable! :)

  6. It IS doable!! There are lots of good flight prices coming out!!! I love to get those travel websites and then I go on vacation (okay, so it’s mostly in my mind…) Plus, there are books (!!), I think they are the Let’s Go series, that help you plan vacations that are very affordable! That’s how we got around Europe for CHEAP!! When there’s a will, there’s a way???
