4th Fun

On the Fourth, we went to Newport, Kentucky (right across the river from Cincinnati and visited the Newport Aquarium. Although packed with people, we loved their exhibits – including tunnels you could walk through with sharks swimming above your head, alligators beneath a plexiglass floor you walked on, starfish, sharks, and horseshoe crabs to touch and a playland area for the kids. Great place! Highly recommended.

After our fun visit to the Aquarium, we morbidly went Mitchell’s Fish Market restaurant right across the way (when on vacation, always try to eat at restaurants you can’t eat at at home! Except Starbucks. You can get a drink.)

We had a delicious lunch, and our waiter was extremely good with the kids, even bringing over a lobster for them to touch.

I’ll skip the ride home. Let’s just say – travel north on I-65 in Indiana at your own risk. 12 mile backup…any questions?

  1. We love the aquariums. Boston has a sweet one!

  2. Mike – I read about your visit to the penguins! That was very cool, I’m sure. I have to show the girls your pictures – they’re fascinated with penguins right now.
The place you went had a penguin “meet and greet”, too – for extra $$, of course. It was neat how they had it set up. I don’t think it was as hands-on as the visit you made…it was more, you get your picture taken and pet the penguin…
So, put the Newport Aquarium on your list – it was very cool!

  3. Will do. I was in Cincy in March, I guess I should have checked it out then!
