My Man

Yesterday we freaked because our porch eave looked a little crooked. We thought we’d have to call a contractor. Contractor does not sound nearly as exciting to spend your money on as “pretty new dress” does, does it? I didn’t know how we were going to get money to lift up the entire porch to fix the separation that was taking place at the corner where the eave meets the rest of the house. Carpenter ants had eaten some of the wood at the base of the pillar, which caused the pillar to sag.

But today Mr MIP went to the local hardware store and got suggestions on what to do. So this was Mr MIP’s day:

Lifting up the eave with a carjack. Is it car jack with a space? Or no space, like carjack. You can see the separation at the top of the pillar.

Destruction caused by carpenter ants.

New base. (First base?)

Isn’t that cool? A fix for a total of $27.

But it ain’t nothing compared to what I dealt with:

  1. Way to go Steve!! We have caprenter ants killing a tree in our backyard. Bad news, they are.

  2. Whoa is Steve is the man!! I think Rog would say it is cuz he is so buff! ;) That is awesome and so rewarding to fix it yourself for so cheap. In regards to the picture of the other man in your life he looks so tough with his tatoos! I wish I would have taken a few pictures of the kids here. Before we recvd our boxes and we were out of things to do we noticed that we had a whole page of tattoos in a coloring book… so we used them all!! oh the looks we got :) Crazy American kids ;)

  3. Way to go, Steve! Looks great! :)
