Lego Adventure
We surprised 10 yo with a trip to the Legoland Discovery Center up at Streets of Woodfield (across from the mall) for her birthday adventure (Everybody gets an adventure on their birthday!).
They had a whole scene of Chicago made out of Legos:

It slowly turned into night in Lego Chicago:

You walk through a couple different scenes filled with characters made out of Legos:

There are a couple rides, a 4D movie (featuring Bob the Builder building with Legos), a pretend Lego factory where you make and take a little Lego inscribed with the name of the place and a workshop where you make a little penguin (you pay to take him if you want – but you don’t have to). The workers were all very friendly and we had a great time. Right now they are running a special where if you go after 3 each afternoon, you can get in for $8 each. This amount seemed right for what we did – but normally it’s $19 for adults and around $15 for each kid – not sure I’d pay that. We were there for two hours and saw everything. For the $8 coupon, go to their site to print it off. There’s also a great gift shop with a ton of Lego sets.
Oh, and the cutest bathroom signs you ever did see!

It was a hit with our age kids and would be appropriate for maybe 4-11 year olds (but it did only take about two hours to pretty much do it all). Although, Mr MIP seemed to have fun, too:

Did the little Lego Chicago quarterback stink too?

Hmmm… come to think of it…there was a whole construction site off to the side with a couple workers burying something in blue.
