and then i sighed

i wish i took amazing pictures of food.

because there was a lot on the proverbial plate today. and little things popped up – adding stressful side dishes.

one irritant was that my awesome bread machine mixed itself right off the counter and died a tragic appliance-ical death. the dough had already been mixed – so i tried to rescue it by letting it rise twice and baking it tonight.

the kids were in bed. the fresh made bread was…so fresh. and i hearkened back to circa march 2009 when i ate one of the most delicious pastries ever. it was a chocolate filled croissant and i bought it from a rather sketchy pastry and cheese shop on our drive around the ring of kerry (one of the top ten scenic road trips in the world). the shop was sketchy, the croissant – oozing with its magical chocolatey self…not so sketchy. in fact, i swear i saw a leprechaun in a chef’s top hat skipping around the corner.

back to 2010. i glanced to the right and saw an unwrapped hershey bar from the holidays…i glanced to the left and saw the fresh made bread. and had an inspiration.

first i toasted the bread.

then i broke up the holiday hershey which usually does not live at my house – except at the holidays when we invite all sweet things to come in.

then it melted and got oozy gooey ring of kerry delish.

and then i sighed.

  1. This is genius. A chocolate sandwich. Why don’t we eat this all of the time?

  2. I should bring you some Cadbury Chocolate Spread! Talk about oh yum! If Heaven had a flavor this would be it :)

  3. Ohhhh….Carey. Cadbury is really my favorite chocolate (I honestly don’t eat a lot of chocolate usually!). And this spring, I hope you and Roger go have a Cadbury Creme McFlurry for me. :)

Barry – I don’t know!! It would be an excellent breakfast!

  4. What about Nuttela (or Nutella?) – the stuff in the peanut butter & jelly isle at the grocery store… isn’t that a French chocolate-hazelnut spread? Oh, forget it – I like your Hershey homemade sandwich!

  5. Oh, and on homemade warm bread, too! (sorry about your bread machine)

  6. Yeah, those Europeans had one up on us a long time ago with that Nutella stuff… :)

  7. I don’t think I’ve ever had Nutella. I’ll have to try it sometime. I’m just afraid of ruining my memory of the choc croissants I ate all across Ireland. :)
